Thought Piece

[Amid all of the recent environmental handwringing, I thought that it might be interesting to revisit former Secretary Gina McCarthy’s testimony in front of the US House Science Committee in July of 2015. As she put it, “I’m not disagreeing that this action [Clean Power Plan] in and of itself will not make all the difference we need to address climate action, but what I’m saying is that if we don’t take action domestically we will never get started and we’ll never….”

The fact that the entire Clean Power Plan would have had one hundredth of a degree impact seems to have been lost to history. Speaking of history, the Colorado Toxic Spill (near Silverton, CO) of 3 million gallons happened in early August of 2015. It is my wish that many of the hyperbolic one-sided environmental headlines and stories of today will have as little shelf life as Gina McCarthy’s testimony did. Steve

P.S. Too much handwringing cuts off the supply of blood to brain.]
