This is a piece by Claudia Cattaneo from 2018 that still echoes in my head. Certainly, it is a story with continuing importance to Canada, its politics and its economic development.Thirty members of the First Nations Tribes say it prioritizes the environment, but in balance with economic development goals. “We absolutely do not support big American environmental NGO’s (who make their money from opposing natural resource projects) dictating government policy and resource developments within our tradition territories.” All totaled, there are over 40 tribes who have already signed economic development agreements with Kinder Morgan’s Canadian Pipeline.
