Thought Piece
The University of Tulsa continues to provide adult “Energy Law” exposure to energy adults. Alright, I might be a little prejudiced because I participated with Diana Hall in one of their Energy Law classes last year. The quality of minds in that class was impressive. Also, there is a rumor that Diana and me (I) will have a discussion about “climate change” this coming Fall. Anyway, Assistant Dean Tim Thompson has an energy background from the private sector, so the entire curriculum has a business sensibility. I highly recommend this class and the whole idea of lifelong business education. At 74, I think I know what I am talking about. My best friend has offered to deliver my eulogy: “He read a lot. Now he is dead.”

A Rich History
The Master of Jurisprudence in Energy Law program is one of the first energy-focused Master’s degree programs available from a fully accredited United States university. The University of Tulsa is rated as a National Jurist Magazine Best Value Law School and with excellent post-graduate outcomes in 2017.
TU’s heritage stems from a deep commitment to serving the energy industry. At the turn of the 20th century, as companies like Shell, Texaco, Sunoco, and Exxon established headquarters in Tulsa, oil industry leaders merged Henry Kendall College and McFarlin College to create The University of Tulsa.
From the very beginning, TU has been innovating in energy education. That spirit of innovation is allowing TU Law to lead in renewable energy and sustainability, and the contemporary curriculum of the MJEL program reflects this growth. Today, The University of Tulsa College of Law is known across the world for its expertise in energy law with the work of its Sustainable Energy and Resources Law (SERL) program.
